On Wednesday August 17 the current AIR_Frankfurt guest artists, Eunhee Lee and Gil Yefman will talk about their artistic practice and their project ideas. The three-month residency in Frankfurt is a cooperation with MMCA, Korea and Artport, Tel Aviv.

Dialektik der Technik
Wissenschaft und Technik sind tief ambivalent: in ihnen vermengt sich potenzieller Fortschritt und reale Ungleichheit. Wie also mit Technologie umgehen, wenn diese Leid mindern kann, aber neues Leid erzeugt, wenn sie herrschaftlich verfasst ist? Können Posthumanismus, situierte Wissenschaftsmodelle oder in der Physikphilosophie entwickelte quantentheoretische Denkmodelle ein queeres statt dichotomes, ein beziehungsreiches statt herrschaftliches Geflecht von Menschen, Tieren und Dingen vorstellbar machen?
With Selbstähnlich: Cihan Cakmak & Moshtari Hilal (Self-Similar: Cihan Cakmak & Moshtari Hilal), basis e.V. is showing photographs, drawings, video and sound works by the artists for the first time together in an exhibition. Both allow their own existence to flow into their work by using their bodies, their experiences and their family biographies. In doing so, they defy social norms, address inequalities, affiliations and power relations and question stereotypes of femininity and beauty.

Wie können wir die Aufmerksamkeit den Dingen gegenüber neu schärfen, den subjektiv-individuellen Blick gegen die groben Strategien der globalisierten Weltordnung behaupten? The LICHTER Art Award is an international prize for contemporary video art. It has been awarded since 2011 as part of the Frankfurt International LICHTER Film Festival, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.
