We are pleased to present the group exhibition Cassandra Complex with works by Claudia Martínez Garay, Hanna-Maria Hammari, Nona Inescu, Özgür Kar, José Montealegre and Dennis Siering from September 16 to December 4, 2022. The opening will take place on September 15, 2022 at 7 pm.

Cassandra Complex brings together six international artists to capture the intensifying feeling of alienation in the age of climate crisis. Acknowledging this moment as a significant turning point in human history, the exhibition tells a cautionary tale, using poetic reasoning to depict how the dialectic of nature and that of history are deeply interconnected. Although it shows how deep the roots of contemporary alienation run in our culture, Cassandra Complex also carries within it a sliver of optimism. The six artists in the exhibition bring new worlds into being and reconfigure worlds that have been marginalized, overlooked, or silenced, transforming the paralyzing feeling of estrangement into a feeling of hope and resistance.

The exhibition is curated by Adriana Blidaru, guest curator of the AIR_Frankfurt curator-in-residence programme of 2022.
