On Wednesday August 17 the current AIR_Frankfurt guest artists, Eunhee Lee and Gil Yefman will talk about their artistic practice and their project ideas. The three-month residency in Frankfurt is a cooperation with MMCA, Korea and Artport, Tel Aviv.

Eunhee Lee (*1990) is a visual Artist. She explores the social relations between individuals, images and technologies, which addresses the ontological and ethical issues of human with the current technological environment. Creating narrative films that combines collected research and documented images, the artist also reflects upon the characteristic of the “screen”. Her recent work is a process of capturing and critically observing the phenomenon wherein one individual is transformed or replaced as a part of a system inside technological industries.

Gil Yefman (*1979) is a multi-disciplinary and conceptual artist. Their artistic approach deconstructs and transforms canonized myths from varied beliefs and traditions. By undermining structured definitions and portrayal of the other, Yefman explores and cherishes the intrinsic potential of the extraordinary. Yefman’s collaborative projects fuse memory, trauma and body, with trans-generational multilayered relations where soft materials dissolve hard subject matters. Yefman uses archival materials as points of departure from which the knitting process resembles writing - texts and contexts become textures suggesting alternative interpretations to dogmatic translations.

The Artist-In-Residence program AIR_Frankfurt aims to foster international interaction between Frankfurt and emerging art centers across the world.
The idea is, in the course of three-month artist residencies, for artists from Frankfurt and artists from abroad to have an opportunity to attain new artistic input abroad, creating new work and building their international network.
