Wir freuen uns die Gruppenausstellung State of High Performance vom 2. September bis 5. Dezember 2021 bei basis zu präsentieren. Wir laden Sie herzlich zur Eröffnung am Mittwoch, den 1. September von 17 bis 21 Uhr ein.*

Ausgehend von der Frage, warum wir scheinbar permanent unter dem Druck stehen produktiv sein zu müssen, beleuchtet die Gruppenausstellung State of High Performance einzelne Facetten dieses scheinbar allgegenwärtigen Leistungsprinzips. Gezeigt werden künstlerische Arbeiten, von Jakub Choma, Claire Fontaine, Kasia Fudakowski, Martin Kohout, Ariane Loze und Pilvi Takala, die dem Leitbild der Produktivität auf ironische, widerständige oder kritische Weise nachspüren.

Mithilfe der Übertragung des Produktivitätsdrangs auf die eigene künstlerische Arbeitsweise, die bewusste Überzeichnung des Prinzips und seiner Folgen oder seine konsequente Umkehrung reflektieren die gezeigten Werke weiterhin nicht nur die Strukturen jenes Gebots, sondern befördern ebenso eine kritische Hinterfragung des permanenten Produktivitätszwangs und dessen Folgen.

We are pleased to present the group exhibition State of High Performance from September 2 to December 5, 2021 at basis. We cordially invite you to the opening on Wednesday, September 1, from 5–9 pm.*

Based on the question of why we seem to be permanently under pressure to be productive, the group exhibition State of High Performance illuminates individual facets of this seemingly omnipresent performance principle. It features artistic works by Jakub Choma, Claire Fontaine, Kasia Fudakowski, Martin Kohout, Ariane Loze and Pilvi Takala that trace the guiding principle of productivity in ironic, resistant or critical ways.
By shifting the need for productivity to an individual artistic working method, deliberately exaggerating the principle and its consequences, or consistently reversing it, the works on display not only reflect the structures of that precept, but also encourage a critical examination of the urge for productivity and its consequences.
