Artist Talk mit Hinda Weiss

Wir freuen uns sehr, Hinda Weiss von August bis Oktober 2019 als Residency-Künstlerin des AIR_Frankfurt-Programms bei basis zu begrüßen. Weiss ist die erste Stipendiatin der neuen Kooperation mit unserer Partnerorganisation ARTPORT in Tel Aviv. Am 28.08. spricht sie über ihre künstlerische Praxis und gewährt Einblick in ihre aktuellen Projekte.

Hinda Weiss ist Fotografin und Videokünstlerin und lebt in Tel Aviv und New York. Ihre Landschaftskompositionen sind aufgeladen mit lokalen Geschichten und verschmelzen Zeiten und Orte zu nicht existierenden und dennoch vertraut anmutenden Umgebungen.
Weiss hat einen MFA der Columbia University und erhielt zahlreiche Auszeichnungen, Preise und Stipendien, darunter den Artis Exhibition Grant und den Outset Contemporary Young International Artist Prize. Ihre letzten beiden Einzelausstellungen fanden im Ludlow 38 in New York und im Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art in Israel statt.

Das Künstlergespräch findet auf Englisch im Erdgeschoss der Gutleutstraße 8-12 statt.

Das Artist-in-Residence Programm Air_Frankfurt wurde im Jahr 1990 vom Kulturamt der Stadt Frankfurt gegründet und wird seit 2016 von basis betreut.

We are delighted to welcome Hinda Weiss as a residency artist of the AIR_Frankfurt program at basis from August to October 2019. Weiss is the first scholarship holder of the new cooperation with our partner organisation ARTPORT in Tel Aviv. On 28.08. she will talk about her artistic practice and provide insight into her current projects.

Hinda Weiss is a photographer and video artist based in Tel Aviv and New York. Her works are compositions of landscapes charged with local histories that merge places and times into non-existing yet very familiar environments.
Weiss holds an MFA from Columbia University and has received numerous awards, prizes, and grants including the Artis Exhibition Grant and the Outset Contemporary Young International Artist prize. Her last two solo shows where at Ludlow 38 in New York and Herzliya Museum of Contemporary art in Israel.

The artist talk will be in English.
