Helmi Azam Aris - Marshall-Brunnen X Puncak Purnama: A Tale of two Cities

Opening, 11.12.2019, 7 pm
Exhibition Hours: 12.12. - 15.12.2019, 1-5 pm and by appointment

In his work, Helmi Azam Aris deals with the passage of time and “what remains“. He explores the effects of time on memory, identity and culture and how rememberances are based on our histories and experiences.
The starting point of his reflections is that everyone has a story to tell. Therefore stories become our compass with which we navigate through our memories and discover our core being. And this is a story of Marshall-Brunnen and Puncak Purnama (lunar peaks).

Helmi Azam Aris is based in Kuala Lumpur and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Hons.) from UiTM Shah Alam. Since then he has constantly expanded his practice and experimented with various media including painting, photography, fabric, sculpture, drawing, installation and art performance. In his work he combines a dark visual language with his personal experience as a Malaysian artist.

The exhibition concludes Helmi Azam Aris’ AIR_Frankfurt residence in partnership with lostgens’ in Kuala Lumpur.
