On July 18 at 7 pm, the second film evening Heroic Bodies by Sara Suliman Mirghani will take place.

Heroic Bodies is a powerful reflection on Sudan’s modern history—marked by colonialism, religious conflicts, and political oppression. At its core, the film explores the struggle of Sudanese women to reclaim ownership of their bodies in the face of systemic violence and control.
Through intimate interviews and bold visual storytelling, Heroic Bodies honors women who have turned their bodies into sites of resistance and memory. Despite enduring marginalization, defamation, and brutal practices, these women continue to shape a legacy of courage, dignity, and determination.

Sara Suliman is a UK-based Sudanese filmmaker, a Chevening scholar, researcher, producer, and director, and the founder of Fenti Productions. In 2017, she was awarded an MA in Gender Studies from SOAS, University of London. Sara's first award-winning documentary feature, "Heroic Bodies," premiered at IDFA in 2022. The film won the Audience Award at the Malmo Arab Film Festival and the Shireen Abu Akleh award for Best Documentary Film in Jerusalem Arab Film Festival, in addition to other awards.
