We are pleased to welcome Jade Sujin Lee as the new residency artist at basis in the framework of AIR_Frankfurt in cooperation with MMCA, Korea from the beginning of July until the end of September 2023.

Jade Sujin Lee (*1980) talks about her artistic practice as well as her project ideas for the three-month residency in Frankfurt at basis.

Jade Sujin LEE explores a range of invisible signs and sensations, including light, memory, and sound, which appear in particular border areas of the everyday world. LEE imagines an arbitrary virtual world in which all beings, including humans, construct themselves. Based on the imagination, she reconstructs the fluid concepts that flow between the temporality of the ‘past-present-future,’ expressing them through various creative forms that encompass spatial installation, performance, narration, and video.
