We cordially invite you to the opening on Thursday, February 24 at 7 pm.* The LICHTER Art Award, which is part of the LICHTER FILMFEST FRANKFURT INTERNATIONAL, celebrates its 10th anniversary and presents the cinematic video works of the five nominees of the 10th LICHTER Art Award in an exhibition at basis e.V., which had already been planned for 2020 and had to be postponed due to the pandemic. The cinematic video works on show are documentaries and essay films, animations as well as fictional and real narratives, which were selected by the three-member jury consisting of the artist Natasha A. Kelly, Gerhard Wissner Ventura, director of the Kasseler Dokfest, and Saul Judd, senior curator of the LICHTER Art Award. They deal with social and political conflicts, provide insights into social phenomena of our present and past and show different tendencies in contemporary video and film art in their range of variations. In addition, the LAA RETRO-KINO offers a retrospective with selected video works of the winners and finalists of the previous 9 editions as part of the exhibition. After the exhibition, basis will show the five nominees of this year's 12th LICHTER Art Award from April 22 to May 15, 2022. *The current 2G-Plus rule applies to admission.
