10. LICHTER ART AWARD at basis e.V.
The LICHTER ART AWARD is an international competition and exhibition for video art. Every year during the LICHTER FILMFEST FRANKFURT INTERNATIONAL, it presents audiovisual forms of expression beyond the cinema and pays tribute to the role of the moving image in visual art. The exhibition shows how multifaceted and differentiated video art is today and how it is perceived as an artistic medium. The exhibition is curated by Saul Judd along with two other renowned jury members.
Previous winners include: Luciana Lamothe (AR, 2011), Oliver Husain (CA/DE, 2012), John Skoog (S, 2013), Bertrand Flanet (F, 2014) Jonathan van Essche (B, 2015), James N. Kienitz Wilkins (USA, 2016), Tobi Sauer (D, 2017), Jakob Engel (D, 2018) and Andrew de Freitas (BR/CA, 2019)
We are very pleased to cooperate with basis e.V. for our 10th edition. On the occasion of this anniversary the works of the five 2020’ finalists will be put in context of artists positions of the joined network.
