On Wednesday, February 19, our current AIR_Frankfurt guest artist Alexandre Caretti will talk about his artistic practice and his project ideas. The three-month residency in Frankfurt is a cooperation with the CEAAC in Strasburg.

Am Mittwoch, den 19. Februar wird unser derzeitiger AIR_Frankfurt Gastkünstler, Alexandre Caretti, über seine künstlerische Praxis und seine Projektideen sprechen. Die dreimonatige Residency in Frankfurt findet in Kooperation mit dem CEAAC in Straßburg statt.

Following the opening of the exhibition Cassandra Complex, curator Adriana Blidaru will be in conversation with artist Claudia Martínez Garay for an open discussion about her practice, starting with the works that are on view at basis e.V. This dialogue will discuss questions about the persistence of contemporary colonial frameworks and explore the meaning of reanimating lost pre-colonial histories.
What can be reclaimed and continued from these histories? What role does contemporary art play in this process?
Im Anschluss an die Eröffnung der Ausstellung Cassandra Complex wird die Kuratorin Adriana Blidaru mit der Künstlerin Claudia Martínez Garay ein offenes Gespräch über ihre künstlerische Praxis führen, ausgehend von den Werken, die bei basis e.V. zu sehen sind. Fragen zum Fortbestehen kolonialer Rahmenbedingungen in der Gegenwart und zur Wiederbelebung verlorener vorkolonialer Geschichten sollen in diesem Dialog erörtert werden.

Since 2017 basis e.V. has been working with lostgens' Kuala Lumpur and the Goethe-Institut Malaysia as part of the AIR_Frankfurt artist residence programme. Helmi Azam Aris (Kuala Lumpur) and Sarah Schoderer (Frankfurt) are this year's fellows of this cooperation. The evening will provide an opportunity to get to know the artists and gain insight into their projects as well as into the art scene of Kuala Lumpur.
