We are pleased to welcome Michal BarOr as the new residency artist at basis in the framework of AIR_Frankfurt in cooperation with Artport Tel Aviv from the beginning of August until the end of September 2023.

Michal BarOr (*1984 in Safed) deals with the question of the use of power that underlies the transformation of objects into knowledge. How is knowledge processed, organized and presented? By engaging with existing knowledge systems, objects, archives, and institutions, she exposes the building blocks of the construction of history and identity. Her installative works consisting of photographs, texts, and objects challenge the systems of order from whose contexts the material has emerged.

On August 16 at 6 pm Michal BarOr will talk about her work and present her project ideas for the resdiency in the basis reading room.
