Wir freuen uns den 12. LICHTER Art Award vom 22. April bis 15. Mai 2022 bei basis e.V. zu zeigen. Wir laden Sie herzlich zur Eröffnung am Donnerstag, den 21. April um 19 Uhr ein.

Der LICHTER Art Award ist ein internationaler Preis für zeitgenössische Videokunst. Er wird seit 2011 im Rahmen des LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International verliehen, das in diesem Jahr sein 15-jähriges Bestehen feiert.

DIe Ausstellung präsentiert die fünf Film- und Videoarbeiten der sieben nominierten Künstler*innen, Iris Blauensteiner & Christine Moderbacher - The world is blue at its edges, Alice Brygo - Soum, Catherina Cramer & Giulietta Ockenfuß - Unleash the Beast, Chapter 2: Hagenbecks Zoo, Stéphanie Roland - The empty sphere und Melanie Jame Wolf Acts of Improbable Genius. Die Preisverleihung des 12. LICHTER Art Award wird am 9. Mai 2022 um 19 Uhr im Rahmen des 15. LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International bei basis e.V. stattfinden.
Die diesjährige Jury setzt sich aus Christin Müller (Kuratorin basis e.V.), Gunter Deller (Filmkünstler) und Saul Judd (Kurator LICHTER Art Award) zusammen.

Im LAA RETRO-KINO werden neben 35 ausgewählten Beiträgen der letzten elf Ausgaben auch einzelne Arbeiten der folgenden Jurorinnen gezeigt: Out von Judith Hopf, Face To the Dawn of Liberty von Mathilde ter Heijne, Bolek von Tamara Grcic und Millis Erwachen von Natasha A. Kelly.

We are pleased to present the 12th LICHTER Art Award at basis e.V. from April 22 to May 15, 2022. We cordially invite you to the opening on Thursday, April 21 at 7 pm.

The LICHTER Art Award is an international prize for contemporary video art. It has been awarded since 2011 as part of the LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.

The exhibition presents the five film and video works of the seven nominated artists, Iris Blauensteiner & Christine Moderbacher - The world is blue at its edges, Alice Brygo - Soum, Catherina Cramer & Giulietta Ockenfuß - Unleash the Beast, Chapter 2: Hagenbecks Zoo, Stéphanie Roland - The empty sphere and Melanie Jame Wolf Acts of Improbable Genius. The winner of the 12th LICHTER Art Award will be honoured in an award ceremony at basis e.V. on May 9, 2022 at 7 pm during the 15th LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International.
This year's jury consists of Christin Müller (curator basis e.V.), Gunter Deller (film artist) and Saul Judd (curator LICHTER Art Award).

In addition to 35 selected contributions from the last eleven editions, individual works by the following jurors will be shown at the LAA RETRO-KINO: Out by Judith Hopf, Face To the Dawn of Liberty by Mathilde ter Heijne, Bolek by Tamara Grcic and Millis Erwachen by Natasha A. Kelly.

Noch bis zum 17. April 2022 ist die Ausstellung zum 10. LICHTER Art Award bei basis e.V. zu sehen.

Der LICHTER Art Award, Teil des LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International , feiert Jubiläum und präsentiert die filmischen Arbeiten der fünf Nominierten des 10. LICHTER Art Awards in einer Ausstellung bei basis e.V., die bereits für 2020 geplant und pandemiebedingt verschoben werden musste.
Bei den gezeigten filmischen Werken handelt es sich um Dokumentar- und Essayfilme, Animationen sowie fiktive und reale Erzählungen, die von der dreiköpfigen Jury bestehend aus der Künstlerin Natasha A. Kelly, Gerhard Wissner Ventura, Leiter des Kasseler Dokfests, und Saul Judd, leitender Kurator LICHTER Art Award, ausgewählt wurden. Sie handeln von sozialen und politischen Konflikten, geben Einblicke in gesellschaftliche Phänomene unserer Gegenwart und Vergangenheit und zeigen in ihrer Variationsbreite verschiedene Tendenzen der gegenwärtigen Video- und Filmkunst auf. 
Darüber hinaus bietet das LAA RETRO-KINO im Rahmen der Ausstellung einen Rückblick bestehend aus ausgewählten Videoarbeiten der Gewinner:innen und Finalist:innen der vorausgegangenen 9 Auflagen.

Until April 17, 2022, the exhibition for the 10th LICHTER Art Award is on display at basis e.V..

The LICHTER Art Award, which is part of the LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International, celebrates its 10th anniversary and presents the cinematic video works of the five nominees of the 10th LICHTER Art Award in an exhibition at basis e.V., which had already been planned for 2020 and had to be postponed due to the pandemic.
The cinematic video works on show are documentaries and essay films, animations as well as fictional and real narratives, which were selected by the three-member jury consisting of the artist Natasha A. Kelly, Gerhard Wissner Ventura, director of the Kasseler Dokfest, and Saul Judd, senior curator of the LICHTER Art Award. They deal with social and political conflicts, provide insights into social phenomena of our present and past and show different tendencies in contemporary video and film art in their range of variations.
In addition, the LAA RETRO-KINO offers a retrospective with selected video works of the winners and finalists of the previous 9 editions as part of the exhibition.
