LICHTER Art Award – Iris Blauensteiner & Christine Moderbacher, Alice Brygo, Catherina Cramer & Giulietta Ockenfuß, Stéphanie Roland, Melanie Jame WolfWe are pleased to present the 12th LICHTER Art Award at basis e.V. from April 22 to May 15, 2022. We cordially invite you to the opening on Thursday, April 21 at 7 pm. The LICHTER Art Award is an international prize for contemporary video art. It has been awarded since 2011 as part of the LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. The exhibition presents the five film and video works of the seven nominated artists, Iris Blauensteiner & Christine Moderbacher - The world is blue at its edges, Alice Brygo - Soum, Catherina Cramer & Giulietta Ockenfuß - Unleash the Beast, Chapter 2: Hagenbecks Zoo, Stéphanie Roland - The empty sphere and Melanie Jame Wolf Acts of Improbable Genius. The winner of the 12th LICHTER Art Award will be honoured in an award ceremony at basis e.V. on May 9, 2022 at 7 pm during the 15th LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International.
This year's jury consists of Christin Müller (curator basis e.V.), Gunter Deller (film artist) and Saul Judd (curator LICHTER Art Award). In addition to 35 selected contributions from the last eleven editions, individual works by the following jurors will be shown at the LAA RETRO-KINO: Out by Judith Hopf, Face To the Dawn of Liberty by Mathilde ter Heijne, Bolek by Tamara Grcic and Millis Erwachen by Natasha A. Kelly.
