Eröffnung: Caroline Gamon - "Ailleurs/Elsewhere" Wir laden herzlich zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung Ailleurs/Elsewhere von Caroline Gamon im basis-Projektraum am 27. März 2019 um 19 Uhr ein. Die Ausstellung beschließt Caroline Gamons dreimonatige AIR_Frankfurt Künstlerinnen-Residenz bei basis Frankfurt und präsentiert einen Einblick in die vor Ort entstandenen Arbeiten.
Caroline Gamons künstlerisches Werk oszilliert zwischen Malerei und Illustration. Beeinflusst von ihrer regelmäßigen Arbeit für Verlage und Zeitungen, ist auch Gamons malerische Praxis von Texten, Veranstaltungen sowie journalistischen wie soziologischen Fakten inspiriert. Diese Transformation von Faktischem zu Malerischen erlaubt ihr, sich von den originalen Motiven zu entfernen, die sich oft in der Nähe des Gegensatzes zwischen Natur und Kultur und der Frage nach Ort und Grenzen bewegt. Die entstandenen malerisch-grafischen Ausschnitte arrangiert Gamon zu einem neuen seltsamen Universum, halb real – halb magisch, in dem Zeit aufgehoben zu sein scheint. Eröffnung: Mi, 27. Opening: Caroline Gamon - "Ailleurs/Elsewhere" We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition Ailleurs/Elsewhere by Caroline Gamon on March 27, 2019 at 7pm. The exhibition concludes Caroline Gamon's three-month AIR_Frankfurt artist residency at basis Frankfurt and presents an insight into the works created on site.
Caroline Gamon's artistic work oscillates between painting and illustration. Influenced by her regular work for publishers and newspapers, Gamon's painting practice is also inspired by texts, events, journalistic and sociological facts. This transformation from the factual to the painterly allows her to move away from the original motifs, which are often close to the contrast between nature and culture and the question of place and borders. Gamon arranges the resulting pictorial-graphic excerpts into a new strange universe, half real - half magical, in which time seems to be suspended. Opening: Wed, March 27, 2019, 7pm
